DESCRIPTION:A new exciting and premier event by MVCS for ecclesiastical authorities from the Brazilian community. CONNECT’s Outreach Coordinator Pricila Vilaça conceived of this concept and is the lead organizer of the event\, Coffee with Pastors. \n The purpose of Coffee with Pastors is to present and share MVCS services and resources to religious leaders and their co-Pastors so they can then bring the information back to the members of their churches.  To be culturally appropriate and respectful\, the goal is to keep this event as intimate as possible with one employee representative from each program following Beth’s welcoming remarks. This representative will share an overview of what resources are available when needs may arise and how to access them within their respective congregations. In addition to the sharing of information\, we are looking forward to the opportunity to build a foundation for ongoing relationships.

Payment is accepted via check or credit card and all proceeds benefit both MV Community Services and MVRHS Student Government.

SUMMARY:Active Threat Planning and Drill
DESCRIPTION:This day is being coordinated with the Duke’s County Sheriff’s Office who will be onsite providing an educational presentation on managing various types of threats including but not limited to an active shooter. The educational presentation will be followed by an actual drill to provide practical skills. We will divide up the drill per program and location so that each group will be experiencing the drill within their own program facility (we may have to group some together for efficiency). More details will be provided in the coming days on the structure and timing of each program drill.

The tournament supports both MVCS programs as well as other Island charities and organizations through the Rotary Club. \nMVCS connects our Island community to the support they need\, when they need it. Our network of educational\, social\, mental health and wellness services nurture a strong\, healthy lifestyle through every stage of life. \nThe Rotary Club is comprised of over sixty community members who volunteer and are committed to raising money for the community through various events. Over the years\, the Rotary Club has given over $200\,000 to local charities. Recipients of major disbursements include MV Hospital\, Island Health Care\, MV Boys and Girls Club\, Big Brothers and Big Sisters\, Sail MV\, The Yard\, Island Food Pantry\, Councils on aging and more.
